Ghana achieves stable power supply, eyes green future after major energy reforms
Ghanaians are now enjoying a stable and dependable power supply, thanks to significant ongoing reforms in the energy sector, Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has announced. Taking his turn at the Government #AccountabilitySeries, John Jinapor stated that there has been a significant turnaround from the 'persistent and erratic power outages' experienced earlier this year. 'We have witnessed a remarkable improvement and reliable supply of power,' he stated, attributing this success to comprehensive reforms addressing both technical inefficiencies and financial challenges within the sector. 'You can attest to the fact that we are now experiencing a reliable, uninterruptible supply of power,' he emphasised, a demonstration of the visible impact of the government's interventions. Looking ahead, Mr Jinapor unveiled plans for a five-year strategic document aimed at accelerating Ghana's renewable energy and green transition agenda. This crucial blueprint will guide future policy reforms, ensuring a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy future for the nation. The Ministry's initiatives reflect the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring a robust, sustainable, and reliable energy sector for all Ghanaians. Morocco: His Majesty the King Congratulates French President on National Day
His Majesty King Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, on the occasion of his country's national day. In this message, the Sovereign expresses His warmest congratulations to President Macron and His best wishes for the happiness and prosperity of France and the French people. "Having expressed the wish to build a future rooted in solidarity, our two countries are once again, as in every pivotal moment of their shared history, working to reshape their cooperation in order to better meet the demands of the present", His Majesty the King writes in the message. The Sovereign stresses that "the Reinforced exceptional partnership whose foundations we have laid is proof of our firm determination to approach the future of bilateral relations with a long-term strategic vision". HM the King took the opportunity to assure President Macron of Morocco's willingness to advance the implementation of this Reinforced exceptional partnership, "in the same spirit of trust and mutual esteem that guided its foundation, and in line with the high ambitions that Your Excellency and I share for the Morocco-France friendship". Seychelles: Ambassador Conrad Mederic presents his letter of credence to President Mahama of Ghana
On 10 July 2025, Ambassador Conrad Mederic presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Mr John Dramani Mahama, to become the new non-resident High-Commissioner of the Republic of Seychelles to the Republic of Ghana. Ambassador Mederic also had the opportunity to have a short meeting with President Mahama, focusing on potential areas to strengthen cooperation between the two countries which included education, culture, tourism, Blue Economy, illegal activities in maritime spaces, climate change and its impact on the two countries. Ambassador Mederic recognised the strong historical and bilateral ties between Seychelles and Ghana, having established diplomatic relations since October 1988 and reassured the President of the commitment of Seychelles to bring the two nations closer through collaboration on mutually beneficial areas. To recall, President Wavel Ramkalawan visited Ghana in November 2024 on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary celebrations of King Prempeh I's Return from exile in Seychelles. During this visit, four Memoranda of Understanding were signed and now, both parties look forward towards the conclusion of other Agreements, particularly one in the health sector.
